Bauhaus, a German art school famous for its approach to design, which combines aesthetics with everyday function, can be found throughout Minnesota. Minneapolis alone contains many examples, including the First National Bank Tower, the 57-story IDS Center, and the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank. The earliest, and perhaps most famous example of this modernist design in Minnesota is Saint John’s Abbey, a Benedictine monastery in Collegeville Township.
